A new blap from one of my personal favorites, Kaz Kyzah, with an assist from Stevie Joe. "Blowin' Money" is the type of slap that makes you mad you got a bus pass. Put this in the trunk, open the sun roof and hit The Town playboy.
This cut is off The Gofessional 2 but it didn't really jump out at me when it dropped a couple months ago. Maybe now it's resonating a bit more because the summer is approaching making the sunny feel good tracks a bit more appetizing. Clearly a joint called "Freeway" has a little something to do with cruising in your finest automobile so you might want to try it.
The vibe forces me to revisit one of my all time favorite Team songs ("Summertime In The Town") as I gear up for what may be my first complete summer ever away from my beloved Oakland. Just zone out to this man. So lovely.
I saw the clean version of this joint floating around a few days ago, but here is the diirrrty one kids. Anybody who has lived elsewhere knows that you rep The Bay harder when you leave, so this song is spot on. This is off Balance and Rich's upcoming duet album, but I'm a sucker for a Kaz feature.
Kazzy and Stevie showcase a banger off their upcoming collabo Bizniz 101. It will also appear on Stevie's mixtape Swag It and Bag It. Hopefully both albums will transcend their bootsy names and be crack. Of course Tre8Notes will keep you posted.
Bonus: Stevie Joe pays homage to his deceased wife on "Shan's Song." It isn't often in hip-hop that we hear much about rappers committing to good women, let alone holding them high after they pass. My respect and condolences to Mr. Stevie Joe and his family.
I'll offer a review after I listen, but I didn't want to deprive yall in the meantime. I've heard whispers that it isn't as good as The GoFessional (pt 1), but I thought the first one was hella raw, so it's a hard act to follow. Let me know what you think. Go Go Go Go Go Go!!
March 3 was the scheduled release date for The GoFessional 2, but I'm not finding it online or on iTunes. Has anyone checked the local Bay spots like Amoeba or Rasputin? In any case, whether it dropped yesterday or does so in a week or two, I'm oh so ready. Yall know that his former Team-mate Clyde Carson is my dude, but Kaz is without a doubt the better lyricist. So be on the look out for King Kazzy's GoFessional 2! Peep the teaser video above & the track below.
When I saw this posted over at The Bay is Back, it read "Clyde Carson feat. Turf Talk." I'm not big on Turfie, but I love Clyde, so I downloaded it. After Clyde's verse I lightweight tuned out, but then low and behold, it was Kaz Kyzah on the 3rd verse. The optimist in me wants to believe that in this struggling economy Kaz and Clyde have moved back into their old FunkTown apartment and began making music together again. However, the realist in me figures this is prolly just an old joint I never heard.
The song itself, produced by the Tracklordz, is your standard stuntin' record, but for some reason when its The Team, it's just way better. Kaz and Clyde have the market on cool cornered in my humble opinion. I fux with this. Viva La Team!

I'm just gonna go out and say it. I think Kaz Kyzah is the rawest rapper in The Bay. I love The Team, and think they should get back together, but Kaz will be straight regardless. His swag is second to none, his punchlines are on point and he makes the most Town records around. He has always managed to walk that line between hood, hyphy and intelligent, all while embodying an effortless cool. I don't know if he has been signed or seeks to, but I think he has the tools to be great. This cut is supposedly off his highly anticipated Gofessional 2 mixtape.
Naturally a song named "580" resonates with the hopelessly Oakland-centric sap in me, but I think you will agree that this slaps. I can't help but gig a little sitting in Starbucks. I'm getting sideways glances, but this blaps hard enough for me not to care. "747 in the 745." Fly.
If you have wondered when Theatre Music is dropping, if Clyde will release a mixtape, or where he's been lately, the above video has your answer. Well, actually I lied. It only answers the last question. The Team's Clyde Carson has been on a world tour with Black Wall Street promoting The Game's new album LAX. The audio isn't tremendous on here, but I'm amazed at how hyped these international crowds get for an opening act, as it is fair to assume that Clyde isn't exactly a known entity in Africa or Scandinavia.
It's great that Clyde is getting to travel the world and have the amazing eye-opening experiences that come with that, but I am still frustrated by his label situation. In review: Clyde was on the local label Moe Doe, but was then signed to Capitol Records. Then for some reason he was placed on a Capitol subsidiary, The Game's Black Wall Street. As a result Clyde has spent a lot of time in LA playing the background. By most accounts Clyde's debut solo album Theatre Music has been done for over a year, but Game keeps pushing his projects instead.
I have nothing against Game, but BWS just doesn't seem like a good fit for Clyde. If he is going to be consistently placed on a back burner and just be one of Game's hypemen, then he might as well be in Oakland making music with Kaz. Clyde has a gang of potential, but I think he may be on the wrong path. It is koo to see him on stage in Sweden in an Oakland sweatshirt tho. I can get used to that. As $hort and B-La would say, he's "so international."
This slap is off Philthy Rich's new album Fonk or Die. The song features Ros, Stevie Joe, Kaz Kyzah, J. Stalin, Shady Nate, Lil Blood, Eddi Projex & Beeda Weeda. Its a koo little cruise around The Town joint, nothing to tell your patnas to shut up for tho.
A little East and West Oakland collabo off of Beeda's 2008 album Da Thizzness. Unfortunately I don't have an mp3 of this, but enjoy the whack ass slide show that accompanies it! lol. Is it just me or does Beeda look like the Bay's Chamillionaire? Loving the old school flip phone though.
I'm glad that these dudes are trying to kill ghostriding, cuz insurance policies definitely don't cover wreckless endangerment. Unfortunately it seems that Beeda only gave up the activity because he "keeps a thumper under the seat," and that is not a Bambi reference. Ghostriding is not a bright idea by any stretch, but when it went from Oakland sideshows to internet squares worldwide, it really lost whatever allure it may have had. That said, it did spawn some hilarious youtube clips from a cop ghostriding while in a shoot out, to Marines in the Middle East ghostriding a MRAP tank (which resulted in them losing rank and pay! Lol).
Obviously the originator of the spoof videos though is my boy Ben and his friend Nate. The genius of their video was that they embraced their squareness by ghostriding a Volvo inching along a cul de sac, yet also gigged pretty respectably, and did it for a good cause. At the end of the day, its great that over 2 million viewers now know that Fremont is a porta-potty of a city not deserving of the Fightin' A's, and that square ass white dudes from the hills are hilariously down for The Town .
I was making my rounds this evening and realized I hadn't checked up on Kaz lately. In my opinion, Kaz is the best and most underrated emcee in The Town. I know some cats can spit, but Kaz embodies Oakland. He has the layed back smoky voice, the nonchalant swagger, and can make both scraper music and more somber lowkey stuff. He also can really rap. That's important, especially since Bay rappers have a reputation of not being able to do so.
