I forgot to post this earlier this week, but Drake's lackluster performance at the BET awards reminded me that a Town tandem had remade it anyway. Ms Jimmie Reign holds it down, but Balance kills it with a mean 16. Don't sleep on dude, he's nice.
Unfortunately a lot of videos that come out of the Bay feature hood rich stuntin, even while looking cheap and tacky. This is not the case with "Can't Go." Directed by Ben Griffin, it follows the narratives of Big Rich, The Jacka, Balance and Jimmie Reign as they traverse the ups-and-downs of long-term relationships. I wouldn't say that the Tracklordz-produced song is uplifting, but I would say that it's real. I have to give my utmost respect to videos that are well-conceived, well-executed and well-shot. Daps yall.
This is a new joint off Balance and Big Rich's forthcoming Undadogg Kingz album. It's entitled "Can't Go" and speaks to the tensions that arise when a good woman seeks to hold on to a man who is too caught up in the game and money to make it work. Tough situation, good song. Big ups to Balance for passing me the track.

This is Jimmie Reign's first single off her forthcoming debut album Pretty Girl. It's been a minute since 2007's Go Girl mixtape, but Jimmie has been bubbling quietly trying to get her cards right before her big move. Jimmie is the latest incarnation of a bit of an R&B rebirth in the Bay. After The Pointer Sisters and En Vogue faded and Raphael Saadiq headed south, there was a bit of a void until Keyshia Cole and Goapele stepped up. Now Jimmie Reign is hoping to follow their lead.
