Willie Joe Counts Down His Top 5 Bay Videos

Here is Part 1 of DJ Backside and Willie Joe's Worth Ethic MAYhem project. It looks like Willie Joe will be offering up a video and song two or three times a week for the month of May with the assistance of the venerable DJ Backside. This week Work Ethic Willie counts down his top 5 Bay Area music videos of all time. He also drops a new track with The Jacka and Big Rich.

New Jacka: "Crown Me"

The Jacka just dropped The Street Album recently and though it contains a number of Mob Figa-ish shoot and slang anthems, there are some bright spots on it too. Jacka is without a doubt hood, but some of his tracks reveal eclectic tastes and flashes of depth. This song is not one of those "deep" moments, but the beat is an ill divergence from the "typical" Jacka sound. I hope that next go round there is less emphasis on fucking bitches, selling drugs and killing muhfuckas, but maybe that's what he knows. In any case, give this a listen fam.

New Music: Willie Joe feat. E-40 & The Jacka

Vallejo's Willie Joe enlists Hillside vet E-40 and Town OG The Jacka for his new single "Mountain." Joe has been putting it down for a minute but has only splashed on the local scene recently. He is a Bay native but relocated to Atlanta in 2005 to step his hustle up. Check out his myspace to peep more videos and tracks.

"Mountain," is the latest manifestation of a Bay artist trying to break a new slang word to the masses. Don't know that this one will catch on, but the track is nice. Willie Joe holds it down, gets a solid (if wishful) sixteen from Jacka, and a gem of a verse from 40 Water. Can't remember the last time I heard a dude rep the Carquinas Bridge on wax.

This is a new joint off Balance and Big Rich's forthcoming Undadogg Kingz album. It's entitled "Can't Go" and speaks to the tensions that arise when a good woman seeks to hold on to a man who is too caught up in the game and money to make it work. Tough situation, good song. Big ups to Balance for passing me the track.
