Oakland OG Davey D came out to DeFremery aka Lil Bobby Hutton Park on Saturday to enjoy the free festivities. It was a great day full of green awareness, skating, grafitti, and good music. 38th Notes favorite Kev Choice put on a solid set before Pharaohe Monch and company took muhfuckas to the griot. Above, he speaks with Davey D about the church of hip-hop and his performance style.

Oakland Police Get Off on Warrant Falsification
Apparently the Montclarion reported that 7 of the 10 Oakand Police Officers who were falsifying search warrants have been allowed to return to work. But don't take my word for it. Oakland Watch dog Davey D tweets:

I'm not sure whether to blame this one on the usual "cops get away with everything" line of reasoning or the fact that the department is a bit shorthanded since the Lovelle Mixon fiasco. Either way, I'm sick and tired of police the world over getting over. Yes there are good cops and all that jazz, but as an institution, the police are fucking grimey and OPD is a head above the competition in that respect.

Civil War in Oakland: The People vs The Police
I am by no means a fan of the police, but it's too easy to perpetuate this dichotomous legacy of distrust and hatred. We need to (wo)man up and solve this problem with sense and community involvement. Five more men have died in Oakland and I refuse to call this genocide progress. . .

Where Is Ron Dellums' Leadership?
Oakland native Davey D makes some excellent points regarding Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums' lack of leadership. Why can't he or any other public officials, police or BART representatives just come forward and apologize? Telling us to "cool out" as Dellums said today doesn't help. Don't patronize us, help the situation. We have seen the video, so the bullshit limbo act isn't going to work this time. Man up and stop treating us like we're children who aren't smart enough to understand "the process." Where was any sort of "process" when Oscar Grant was executed?
Dellums has done nothing since he was sworn in, but his latest inaction is just insulting. He has tried to substitute rhetoric for action for too long. This time he better get a clue and some balls and do something.
