If you are in the Bay Area tonight, then you are absolutely required to check out this concert. There is no need repeating what's on the flier, but you will be taking an L should you choose to pass on this. What better way to celebrate the Bay's activist history, present and future, than with a multi-cultural collective of rebel-rousing rappers? So sad I can't attend, but if you go, take flix and film.

“Bangerang!” was the rallying cry of Peter Pan’s Lost Boys in the 1991 movie Hook, but it is now the official call of Bay Area hip-hop crew 40Love. There is one obvious difference between the San Francisco foursome and the Lost Boys however: a girl named Haze. And with fellow MC G-OFF, producer Mikos, and DJ Whooligan in tow, Haze sings, spits, and swoons her way over the group’s signature subterranean bounce.

Where Haze is melodic and agile, G-OFF is strong and steady. And where Mikos’ production is experimental and soulful, DJ Whooligan’s scratching and mixing are classic hip-hop. Being MCs, Haze and G-OFF get top billing, but it’s Mikos’ synth-heavy soul of keys, vibes, and bass that defines 40Love’s sound. . . Click here to continue reading

I'm eagerly awaiting Frisco foursome 40Love's debut album Bangerang! coming soon. Comprised of rapper/vocalist Haze, emcee G-Off, producer Mikos and DJ Whooligan, the crew has been bubbling for a koo minute in the Bay's underground scene. They are currently featured on DJ Backside's site where you can listen to their first single and vote on it. I also have it below though, for your listening enjoyment.
