The Bay has began to capture and recreate the sparse but slappin Cali sounds coming out of LA in recent years. For "Store Run," Damey (1/3 of The Diligentz) mixes a new-school Pac Div sound with old school Boyz In The Hood imagery, creating a smooth but haunting slumper. With a creeping Cali beat from Justin Kase, Damey crafts a song that has been getting local spins on KMEL and can appeal to the whole Left Coast. Between "Store Run" and the Balance & U-N-I video below this post, it seems as if the Bay is embracing a broader Cali sound and sensibility. This One West perspective is a much needed approach in a game dead-set of dividing and conquering. Viva La Costa!
