Video: Get:Live Session #4: DaVinci

Salutations beautiful people and appreciators of good music. We are back with the latest installment of the Get:Live Sessions, this time with Fillmoe thorobred DaVinci. The San Francisco emcee took many by surprise with his debut album The Day The Turf Stood Still– a vivid portrayal of a gentrifying Fillmore district. He has garnered praise for his ability to paint the picture of gritty city life and make street music without making hood music.

“I’m from where hate is power and love is a weakness
—you do wrong the right way they call you a genius.”

Here the west coast emcee with the east coast sound translates his dope record "Concrete Jungle Juice" into something live and epic with the GetBand. Stay tuned for an insightful interview hosted by Daveed Diggs that delves more into the urban renewal theme that defines the album.

Also check out 38thnotes Executive Editor Niema Jordan's exclusive interview with DaVinci at Troubl.org, in addition to one of my favorite music videos of the past year, "Ben."
