Mistah FAB and Ya Boy are often accused of being on some Hollywood shit. FAB can be found court side at the Warriors game in an ostentatious outfit or traipsing around the country on tour. And Ya Boy is a few hundred miles away from the Fillmoe, living the rock star life in LA and spending Britney Spears money. In other words, they are hustling and living well. Unfortunately as a region and a culture, we overly-fixate on acting funny and/or selling out, and too often use the accusation in a won ton manner. In "Acting Funny" FAB and YB answer the question, "Why you acting funny?" with the answer, "I ain't acting funny, I'm just getting money."
That answer says it all, and it is an answer that a region obsessed with hustle should understand. We can't be too focused on being "Baymous," because local notoriety doesn't translate into much beyond joog at the local night spot and temporary hood riches. FAB and YB understand that and are trying to elevate their game to a national level. With that motivation they are about to release their collaborative EP entitled Hello Hollywood, and with the backlash they are sure to receive from haters, they have released "Acting Funny" as their first single.
