Clif Soulo is generally a pretty soft spoken cat. He isn't much for yapping, stuntin and carrying on, he just handles his business, takes care of his family and records some dope hip-hop in the process. Hip-hop has been succesfully co-opted by a capitalist mentality that tries to convince us that all that glitters is gold, but Clif and others know better. That perspective was at the root of Clif's recent project Forever Be Hip-Hop. The Common themed mixtape didn't have a club banger, a street single, or a disrespectful "ode to bitches" on it; it was just good honest music.
Many emcees feel a need to dress themselves up as the hardest, the richest, the flashiest, and too often the stupidest, but hip-hop means something different to Clif.
