I just got put up on the kid Young Ivy thanks to Mr D Nastee, so I wanted to pass along the word. How many rappers do you know were born in Sweden, raised in the Bay, attended Dartmouth, toured Europe and then continued the hustle down in ATL? Don't worry, I'll wait. As predicted, these different regions are reflected in his music and create quite a unique sound.
I still have some homework to do on dude, but this song is my one right now. Apparently it's pretty big in Europe (comically cliché as that sounds) and I'm not surprised. It's one of the better club records I've heard recently and has been in constant rotation on my iPod. It's got that electronic pop sound that's all the rage of late, but incorporates an indigenous Mac Dre comedic element too.
"Shirt Off"- Young Ivy
The Ivy League grad also keeps it 100 in the video below. My college folks crammin for Finals will feel this one without a doubt. Apparently you don't have to be named Asher Roth to rap about college. Who knew?
