The Bay Area's Corporate Music Push

In the recent past the Bay Area's music scene has remained largely local. Yes Too $hort was a legend, Green Day was big and Hyphy created a bit of a buzz, but somehow we always end up pigeonholed or the butt of some joke. Well it seems that may be about to change.
Yesterday Netta Brielle performed her song "Music," produced by Erk Tha Jerk, on BET's 106 & Park for Wild Out Wednesday. Though she didn't win, she introduced herself to the country as a dynamic and versatile force to be reckoned with in the near future.

In the meantime, The Cataracs debuted the video for their single "Club Love" this past week on MTVU. Nothing like a couple of Berkeley boys being stranded on a deserted island with nothing but a map, face-painted stalkers and a secret cave club destination...

Lastly, "Can't Go," the Jimmie Reign, Balance, Jacka & Big Rich collabo cut has been in rotation on MTV and MTV2. If history is any indication, this opportunity will pass us by, but I think because our buzz isn't reliant on gimmickry this time around, we have a much better chance to make a move.
