Given all the craziness surrounding the deaths of Oscar Grant, the OPD officers and Lovelle Mixon, it was only a matter of time before Oakland's hip-hop community spoke out. Mistah FAB was the first to speak out on his Oscar Grant tribute track with Jennifer Johns. Now Beeda Weeda and J. "My City" by Mistah FAB seems to have been recorded after the murder of the four police officers a couple of weeks ago. Although the frustration FAB documents is real, his assertion "I come from a city with absolutely nothing" doesn't quite ring true for me. That said, FAB's melancholy is valid in light of recent events. Stay tuned for my exclusive Wiretap interview with FAB coming next week.
