Event: BET's Music Matters Tour with Marsha Ambrosius, Melanie Fiona & London in SF

BET’s Music Matters Tour is coming to The Bay this Tuesday and 38thnotes is trying to put you in the building! Headliners Marsha Ambrosius and Melanie Fiona will be joined by local phenom London at 1015 Folsom to get folks swaying and swooning. BET is usually on the receiving end of criticism regarding Black folks media identity, but for the Music Matters Tour, they’re temporarily the good guys for promoting some amazing artistry.

Most know Marsha Ambrosius because of her tenure with Floetry, but her recent hits “Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player) and “Far Away” have kept her relevant as well. The former is a bitter retort to an ex-lover. The latter is a serious plea she wrote after her best friend committed suicide due to homophobic bullying. Far too many young men and women take their own lives each year due to mental, physical and social abuse relating to their sexual orientations. Much respect to Ms. Ambrosius for using her pulpit to speak out.

Melanie Fiona is a Canadian songstress of Guyanese ancestry known for her retro sound and breathtaking beauty. Even if you’re not a huge fan, you’re probably familiar with her songs “Give It To Me Right” or “It Kills Me.” She also recently released the video to her new single, “Gone and Never Coming Back.” It should be said that I have a crush, and doubt that I’m alone in that.

Factor in the #ACTION provided by 38thnotes’ favorites London and DJ D-Sharp and you have an epic evening you won’t want to miss. Come out to support great soul music and a couple of dynamic Oakland artists at the same time!
