Game and Clyde Carson |
Clyde Carson has been on a bit of a hiatus, but he's got a new project brewing, so wake up and tune in kids. The former Teammate is back with the Game-assisted "Something to Speak About" and the slick-talking "Save Me."
"Something to Speak About" is the lead single off his forthcoming project of the same name. It's reflective and somber tone is not what you'd expect for a single, but it works. It's a song of struggle, aspiration and success. It's Clyde stopping to look back at his life with a satisfying smile, before continuing his assent up the mountain. On the hook he croons...
We been broke so long and so hard, hiding from behind my scars...That's something to just think aboutThere was no dough, just hope in my heart, tired of reaching for the stars. Now I'm something you can speak about.
"Save Me" finds Clyde at the other end of the spectrum, dismissing the over eager women trying to cuff him. The title is in reference to Captain Save-A-Hoe, The Click's 1993 caricature of a trickin' suitor. Clyde is no such Captain, and is apparently not much in the mood to be throwing inner-tubes to shallow broads. Clyde may have the coolest Bay Area rap voice since Richie Rich, and over this bouncy beat it's delivered to pimpish perfection.
