New Music: Esinchill: Vigilante (album)

Vigilante
1: a self-appointed doer of justice (via Merriam-Webster)
2: latest release from Oakland's own Esinchill. Good music via Dope Only

The Vigilante album is fifteen tracks. The features range from Dave Hollister to Ryan Nicole. The stories – yes, there is actual storytelling and not random sentences placed together because the lasts words rhyme – range from the MC meeting his father in a dream, to purely physical relationships, to validating the use of some of hip-hop's favorite words.

As for the MC, Esinchill a bit of a mystery. On any given weeknight you can run into local artists at the chosen hot spots. Yes, they are chilling, but really they are networking and building a connection with fans. They are figuring out who is who and connecting the dots. Yet, for all of the MCs and singers you'll run into, you're hard pressed to have a run in with Esinchill. What you will find is a bunch of folks that rock with him. First thought: Maybe he's just hella connected. But with further thought, you see that he has a product that speaks for itself. And maybe in the land of "friendbases" he's actually developing a fanbase.

His key to building a fanbase? He's a "Fan First." A personal favorite, this track is a call to action for folks who say the love the music and  the culture to actually support quality work:

"My fellow fans, they've stopped meeting our demands
Who's with me? Take a stand by a showing of hands
Wave your $16 in the muthaf*ckin' air/ wave it all around like you really do care
Say, I will not buy wack sh*t on this I swear..."

If you've been wanting something new, looking for something that gives you that "hip-hop" feeling without being preachy, or you just want to support homegrown talent, all you have to do is put five on it over at DopeOnly.
