Event: Soul Cypher (Presented by Hot Water Cornbread)

Are you ready for the return of The Soul Cypher? This night of spoken word, jazz, funk, hip-hop, and soul presented by Hot Water Cornbread (HWC), has been described by CEO Brandy Daley (Scorpio Blues) as more than an event–she promises an experience.

After a few years on hiatus, the cypher is back with a fusion of homegrown artists and a few out-of-towners that are local favorites. Hosted by the Bay's own Martin Luther, the lineup  features spoken word from Sunni Patterson, Amir Sulaiman, and Mouth Off Wednesday host Prentice Powell.  Oakland's RyanNicole,  who recently released her mixtape Dis'Onance - Vol. 1, is on deck blending hip-hop, spoken word, and soul. And taking the audience to other lands with their beautiful voices and songs  that capture life's joys and struggles are Yahzara of  The Foreign Exchange and  Seattle songstress Choklate.

You can purchase tickets from SoulCypher.com and enter to win passes from the same site. "No other Oakland event exposes the professionalism and depth of spoken word and song; live music and a dope dj; sexiness and sophistication; truth and entertainment," says Daley.
