On "Let Me" Jimmie pleads her case to the man that she loves. "We've been down this road a thousand time before. Given you reasons 1 through 94 why I should be the one you open up to." You can't help but sway to her vocals as she digs deep and shows off her range. You know she means every word she utters, but given that love isn't often won through debate, you fear her pleas and overtures are in vain.

"My Love" on the other hand paints a much more reciprocal and sweet brand of love. The instrumentation is all lush piano chords as Jimmie sings, "Let me lay my head on your chest, listen to your heart beat. When you kiss me, you take my breath, baby I'm done playin." You can feel her sentiments as she swoons and sucks us into the vortex of her love.
The album has a couple brief lulls, but we are always brought back into the fold with Jimmie's authentic emotions. On the ominous and honest "Victim," she reflects back on all the times she's played the victim role in her life, and promises to empower herself. She upholds this promise on "All On Me," when she declares that she can no longer financially support her free-loading boyfriend. This stand out track was also recently featured on our Bay Abridged July Mixtape.
Overall, Jimmie Reign shows why she is renowned in the Bay Area, and gives us several glimpses of her enormous potential. Those who have been treated to her live performances, may be left craving more of her powerful singing voice, paired with additional live instrumentation, but Pretty Girl is a promising debut from Ms. Jimmie Reign. We'll definitely be listening for more from this beautiful and talented young woman.
