New Music: The Getback Crew: The Bay Boy Mixtape

The Getback Crew has been building despite the difficulties associated with convening a quorum when your clique is so multi-talented and well-traveled. With resident "SPITTER" Rafael Casal back and forth between rapping in The Bay and teaching in Wisconsin, and Daveed Diggs juggling his acting career with his lyricism, somehow the duo managed to convene with their leading ladies to crank out a dope tape for the soil.

The Bay Boy is rife with witty wordplay from Casal and dizzying genius from Diggs, but its the dope detailed production and well-crafted melodies that carry the mixtape. Stand out tracks include "Run" and "Foxy Girls," which samples Rodger Collin's rare 1970 funk gem "Foxy Girls in Oakland." Fittingly, the track also features a foxy Town girl, the always impressive Getback empress Ms. Chinaka Hodge.
