That's right folks, Mr. Furly himself would have turned 40 years old today. Unfortunately a Kansas City drive-by shooting put an untimely end to his life in 2004, but his legacy lives on. Law enforcement officials would like Andre Hicks remembered as a villain, and he has a rap sheet to support that assertion, but the rest of us will choose to remember him for better reasons.
Mac Dre is without a doubt a Bay Area cultural icon. He is a godfather of Hyphy, but more importantly he taught Bay Area cats how to flamboast to the highest degree, while still keeping it street. If you look at the company he kept or the time he served, you know Dre was no fairy princess, but if you peep his style and the way he carried himself you'll see an unabashedly unique individual. He may be a footnote to East Coast hip-hop snobs, but here at home, his hood panache, lyrical bravado and foolish antics will forever be remembered. In a place that has always trumpeted outlandishness, Mac Dre was a true original. RIP Furl

Also want to shout out Mr. Al Davis. His birthday was on July 4th. I look it as a celebration... 1 year closer to death. Lets all pull out our track suits and celebrate
