We slacked on this a little bit, but for all of you who like spontaneous things, I would suggest you hit up the Andre Ward fight tonight at the Oracle Arena. Andre is a hometown kid, born in San Franciso and raised in Oakland, and he elected to hold his first title bout in his own backyard. Andre first burst on the scene when he won a gold medal in the Olympics, but ever since then he has been brought along slowly. Tonight will be his biggest test to date, going against the powerful Mikkel Kessler from Denmark, who is 42-1 with 32 KO's in his professional career. Andre on the other side is 20-0 with 13 KO's, but has not nearly had the amount of fights or experience that Kessler has.I know everyone has been swept up in the Pacquiao hype, including me, but we can't forget about the fighters who are up and comers and want take their fighting to the next level. This should give us a better idea of what Ward can accomplish going into the future. If he can take the fight into the later rounds, his chances of winning should improve because he is younger and has the hometown crowd pushing him to finish strong. Lets welcome Andre back to Oakland the way he deserves it. So either, go buy a ticket and be in the building or tune into Showtime, which will show the fight, and support Ward.
Below is one of the last Press Conferences, video via Youth Outlook Media, that was held for the fight in Downtown Oakland. Ward is a very well spoken man and represents our city well. Bring home a win tonight!
