Leading Ladies Night at Luka's, a Sultry Success

Last night Luka's was rocking and soulin with some of the East Bay's flyest young women. Mic-G spat and the homie DoDAT lent his lyrics to the proceedings with "The Band Played On" and a cover of Snoop's "Lodi Dodi," but it was the ladies who stole the show.

Siaira Shawn got things rolling with some lovely full-bodied soul, and Isis Genisis who took it home with her burlesque inspired get-up and jumpin' pop/soul anthems. Isis' set was uptempo and sultry thanks to her amazing voice, sweltering stage presence, red humming bird lashes and expertly-funkified tutu. Her band and partner-in-song, Krystle Azul, kept up with her too, leaving the crowd two-stepping and dipping the whole set.

Overall it was a dope Sunday night out on The Town and it got me juiced for Isis' debut project, coming in the spring. If you want to check Isis G and her brother Do DAT before that (which you should), check out their monthly Oakland in Blue showcases at Somar, which feature a variety of dope special guests.
