Black Dynamite is a hilarious, blaxploitation spoof film that will eat your popcorn, round-house you in the solar plexus and leave with your girlfriend. It sounds rough, but it has my vote for the funniest flick of the year. Michael Jae White is Black Dynamite, a Jim Brown-inspired crime-fighting juggernaut, who seeks to avenge his brother's death, only to get caught up in a far-fetched racist government conspiracy.
A lot of my folks have been itching to see it, but amazingly it's showing nowhere in the Bay Area. Thankfully, the Grand Lake Theater is hooking up an exclusive midnight screening on Saturday, November 21st!
I had the privilege of seeing it in NY at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and can assure you that it is absolutely hilarious. The writing expertly riffs on classic blaxploitation films like Three The Hard Way, the acting channels both Chuck Norris and The Mack, the production is expertly amateur and the original score is awesome. In short, don't miss it!!
