Fresh Coast Originals: The Parker Brothaz

It seems like everyone and their mother is referring to the West Coast as the Fresh Coast these days, but it was the Parker Brothaz who first coined the term. They did so because they are from Seattle, which though geographically on the west coast, is not accepted as such in many hip-hop circles. The term was meant to be an inclusive (though Pacific specific) umbrella that incorporated Oregon, Washington and Cali, but has since been misconstrued as just another way to say CA.

The root of this confusion is perhaps that folks don't know that there is much of a hip-hop scene in the Pacific northwest. Well there is, and The Parker Brothaz are a big reason why. Eclipse and Stretch have a dope 2009 g-funk vibe I like to call "The Puget Sound" (take a Washington geography course for the double entendre kids). Their in house production team is Tha Bizness (who have produced for Jeezy, Weezy, Jay, et al), which alone makes them a problem, but they can spit too. Take a listen to their laid-back qi (chee), imagine you're cruising on a overcast Seattle day and zone out to some good new Fresh Coast music.
