Youth UpRising is an amazing multi-service youth center located in Deep East Oakland next to Castlemont High School. They are currently in the running for a substantial chunk of money from the GAP Foundation but it takes us voting for them to make it happen. Tomorrow is the last day to vote and YU is currently in second place, vote HERE to support Oakland and Alameda County youth.
The dope and informative video above delineates a lot of the services the center provides so you can familiarize yourself. I was on the youth board that planned the center in the early 2000s and have worked there since, making it a place that is near and dear to my heart. So please take a moment to do this.
