Green Day Covers Rolling Stone Magazine

Though I have Green Day's independent debut album on cassette in a box somewhere, I have not really kept up with them. Regardless, they are East Bay legends who live in The Town and record down in Jingletown ESO, so I gotta show love. Below is a track from their new album 21st Century Breakdown entitled "21 Guns." I chose this joint because the always political Billie Joe's plea of "Lay down your arms" is relevant to both Oakland's struggle with violence and America's obsession with war. Listen to the snippet and click HERE to hear the full song.

The scrappy punks who became superstars 15 years ago with Dookie are now America's most ambitious rock band. For our new cover David Fricke visits Green Day at home in Oakland to get the story behind their epic new punk opera 21st Century Breakdown."
Q&As:
Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong about the group's darkest days.
Bassist Mike Dirnt about tapping into his inner child.
Drummer Tré Cool about loving the Who and finding his groove.
