38th Notable: 3X Krazy "Keep It On The Real"

Me and B.Dot of RapRadar.com were twitversatin last night when he said, "I don't understand how you guys like Keak da Sneak. I think he's one of the worst everrrr... It's like he doesn't even speak English." This got me thinking. I like me some Keak, but not many will argue that he's much of a lyricist. What is it about Keak that we like?

Most of the Keak songs I like just plain slap and his gravely turf-oriented delivery and localized lyrics are fitting for them. I also like a real life reminder of what will come of my vocal chords if I take to smoking Menthols. This old school 3X Crazy video serves as a reminder that Keak didn't always sound like the Cookie Monster though. That and it's a Bay classic.

What is it about Keak that you like or dislike?

I like Keak too and I don't really know why... I guess your reasons more or less. He's just all Bay all day- beats are simple but slap, the voice, etc. It's not like he's anywhere near being a favorite, but what i like is he stays pretty true to what got him to where he is and isn't trying to be anyone he's not (ie. lyrical)

Anyway such a great song with that nice west coast vibe to cruise to in the summer... Hella reminds me of CMC back in the day woooooaaahhh throwback! Anyway, please check this out http://www.imeem.com/lanier2/music/JNjUbfEY/52nd-street-tell-me-how-it-feels/ You gotta listen up until at least like 2 minutes in. Uno!

I like Keak too, his rhymes can be kind of lazy sometimes but his voice sets him apart and I used to listen to Death Metal and Hardcore as a kid so I'm used to not understanding anything the vocalist is saying. It's insane to hear how much his voice has changed from his Sneakacydal album to present day, though...

I'm a big fan of his recent stuff too, though. It's hard to understand him but when you do, it's rewarding. Just a few gems from his last album:

"When you see me turn your pockets into rabbit ears.."

"..cuz they never show a nigga gettin away on cops!"

"I'm on that ass like a license plate."

I think it's great also that he bought a farm outside sacramento. Good for him.
