If you aren't up on BRWN BFLO, then read this post I wrote awhile back to get a little background. Then dive headfirst into their latest video, "The Re-Appearance," produced by the homie Samm Styles. The dope video features a few of their songs and gives you a pretty well-rounded understanding of who they are and what they represent, namely ChicanOakland pride, the streets and progressive politics.
A lot of "conscious" groups can seem preachy, but BRWN BFLO reaffirms that there is nothing inherently preachy about hood intelligence or cultural pride. We have to remember that a rebellious militance with social awareness at its core is nothing new to Oakland (think Panthers). Hopefully the group, who range in age from 19 to 30, can succeed to capturing the imagination of the Oakland Bay Area and hip-hop in general.

Check out this bonus clip of my homie Big Dan preparing to speak to youth at Juvenile Hall- a place his past has landed him in all too often.
