Mikkey Halsted isn't from Oakland, but he seems to have a pretty firm grasp on what Oakland has and can represent. I often get frustrated thinking that Oakland is merely hyphy minstrel central in the national consciousness, but thankfully even out in Chicago, some understand The Town on a different level. I don't want to beat Oscar Grant to death, but this really is an amazing opportunity to mobilize. Oakland has led the way before.
