Tre Eightman (aka Sean Brekke-Miesner) hails from East Oakland, and is the brother of 38thNotes’ founder Coolhand Luke. Tre acquired his alias by combining his street name 38th Ave (Tre Eight), with the famous NFL quarterback Troy Aikman.
A 2008 graduate of Oakland Technical High School, Tre attended San Jose State University for one year, before returning to Oakland to continue his academic career at Merritt College. He plans to major in either Sociology or Education and is a High School JV Basketball Coach.
Although his professional writing credentials are not on par with Renaissance or Coolhand Luke, he is 38thNotes’ youngest member, so that is to be expected. Also, with a focus on sports, he attracts a different audience than the site’s usual music-hungry clientele.
Since Coolhand Luke started 38thNotes in 2008, Tre has written a few pieces under a variety of monikers before becoming a full time contributor in Mid-August of 2009. A die hard Oaklander from birth, 38thNotes affords him a platform to channel his love of writing and Oakland.
You can usually find him in East Oakland at a taco truck spending money he doesn’t have and enjoying the diverse community of folks who gather there.
