Young Bob: "Roberto CaBobby" Mixtape

I'm tired of rap monickers that start with "Young" and I find Bob's voice a bit annoying, but the former GoDAV member and East Oakland representer managed to win me over anyway. Though the mixtape sticks to many of rap's favorite topics (i.e. sex and stuntin), Bob presents them in a new and novel form.

For instance, his song "Sex and Candy Paint" is a remake of Marcy Playground's 1997 rock record "Sex and Candy."

"First Date" features a nice acoustic guitar riff and catchy melody thanks to The Dizzy Balloons and Cyrano of The Cataracs.

And if you need a nice feel good summertime joint to cruise the Aves to, check out "Gangsta's Paradise." I guess what we've learned from my selections is that rap with guitar > rap without guitar. I'm just sayin.

Young Bob of Go Dav: "Skinny Jeans" Video

Well this is certainly an interesting rebuttal to the post below. I lightweight insinuated that LA hipster-hoppers have a monopoly on skinny jeans, but lets face it, all dudes from rap cats to scene kids are rocking skinny jeans these days. Even Bay Area cats are getting in on the action apparently.

Enter Young Bob of Bay Area collective Go Dav (Going Outrageously Dumb At Venues). If that still doesn't ring a bell, maybe you'll remember their one regional hit, "Ride or Die Chick." I actually dig this joint, minus the distorted levels the song was recorded at. Chuch
