Video: Goapele's "Milk & Honey" Album To Be Her Best

I'm really juiced about Goapele's new album yall! I've been fortunate enough to hear some cuts from Milk & Honey over the past months and can testify that this should be her best record to date. I wish I could share some of the particulars, but the promo video below has clips of a couple of my favorite songs on the album.

"Right Here" is a sensual banger produced by Drumma Boy that may have Bay Area radio on smash longer than Erk Tha Jerk's record of the same name. The live snippet of it below is telling, but when it powers into the hook.... craziness! Just wait!

Another amazing record Goapele showcased at this featured show was "Tears on My Pillow." The studio version of this song is solid, but it's the live version that elicits the strongest emotions. When she introduced this song at Yoshis a few months back, I got goose bumps when the first chords hit and there were audible exhales from the audience as she eased into the chorus. Perhaps it's due to the heartbreak it harbors, or maybe it's the way Goapele's voice swells and subsides with the tide of Bobby Ozuna's production.

Whatever the reason, Milk & Honey isn't anything you should sleep on, but I'll let Goapele tell it.
