Return of the Oakland International Film Festival

(Pic from last year's festival, disregard date on marquee)

During the next few days movie buffs, aspiring actors, and future directors will congregate. Here's the thing, they aren't hitting NYC or LA to check out award winning films and artists workshops, they're coming here to The Town. Today kicks off the 8th Oakland International Film Festival and the buzz is big. Between tonight's screening of Still Bill about the legendary Bill Withers and the closing night's screening and Q&A for UP!, you are bound to find something to love.

The festival runs October 8-14 with screenings and events at Grand Lake Theater, Jack London Cinema, Maxwell's Lounge, Merritt College and Uptown Nightclub. Go to support independent artists. Go to support Oakland industry. Go because you haven't been out in hella long. Go because you want to appear deep during water cooler convos. Whatever your reason, just go.
