The Bay's Jimmy & C.C. Rep For The World To See

The World Series is set to begin Wednesday night and it's only right to recognize the Bay's influence on the series. Jimmy Rollins (above with President Obama) was born in Oakland and went to high school in Alameda, idolizing his hometown hero Rickey Henderson all the while. He will be facing the biggest pitcher in baseball, physically anyways, Vallejo native C.C. Sabathia.

Jimmy had a tough year for the Philadelphia Phillies, but is known as the anchor of the team. The first half of the season he was terrible, but he managed to salvage the second half of the year, finishing with a .250 batting average, 21 home runs and 77 runs batted in. In the playoffs he has hit a measly .244, but his squad made it to the World Series for the second year in a row anyway.

C.C., seen above with fellow MLBay ambassador Dontrelle Willis, has carried the New York Yankees pitching staff, amassing a 3-0 record and a sub-2.00 ERA in the playoffs. Besides being the proud owner of a 7 year, $161 million contract C.C. is also an ardent supporter of the Warriors and Raiders. During the We Believe season, he was regularly seen on the sidelines cheering on the Dubs.

Both of their Bay roots run deep and we wish them luck on the biggest stage of them all. Jimmy was part of the Phillies team that won it last year and I will be cheering for him again because real Town folk hate the Yankees. Good luck though C.C., and now that you're so rich, maybe you can get a group of investors to help you buy the lowly Warriors. Just an idea.

Keep your eye out for a preview of the Warriors season tomorrow. Peace
