Jahvid Out To Prove He Is The Best

We have been focusing a lot on the Raiders lately, but we should not forget our local college team, the Cal Bears. For the last 5 or 6 years the Bears have been considered the second best team in the Pac-10 behind the hated USC Trojans. But this year there is a chance that the Bears could un-seat USC (University of Spoiled Children) as the number 1 team on the West Coast.

The person who dictates this teams success is Jahvid Best, the junior from Vallejo who is one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy, the award given for the best player in the country. Best was a world class sprinter in high school at Salesian, but has hung up those cleats for a different pair. Through the first 2 games Best has run for 281 yards. Although the Bears have not played against great competition so far, Best has caught the eye of many fans around the country, as well as Sports Illustrated, who wrote a piece on him. Only time will tell if his slender body will hold up over the season or if the East Coast media bias will give Best the love that he deserves. But his Heisman campaign has definitely been launched, so lets show the East Coast that our players are just as good, if not better.

Cal plays Minnesota tomorrow at 9AM on ESPN, which will be the Bears biggest challenge so far. Check out the Sports Illustrated story above and most of all Go Bears!!
