Thursday Throwback: Dru Down "Deep East Oakland"

Dru Down is an Oakland OG, as you can tell by his dated press and curl (seen below at Oaklandish's Salsa by the Lake event last month). And though OG status is something to be honored and respected, a press & curl in '09 Dru? That's like pushing a covered wagon on 580.

In any case, I just came up on this 1995 release, "Deep East Oakland," featuring Dangerous Dame and figured I'd pass it on to yall. Just looking at the photo below, Mr. Down reminds me of Katt Williams a bit, and his acting chops seem to coincide. Below the link to the song is some scenes from the movie Original Gangstas, which was released in 1996 starring Dru Down. Although some of the content is not my style, he is still hella funny and carries himself like a true town tycoon.
